Fall/Winter Prospect and Recruiting Camps
These camps are an important part of the overall recruiting process as they will create and assist with exposure to college coaches for the student athlete looking to play lacrosse in college. Please check back regularly to this part of our website as camps/clinics are added and updated regularly for each season. Note recommendations may or may not be needed for a specific camp, please talk with the WHS coaching staff if interested in a particular camp. Also, you may want to check with a specific college coach of a college you may be interested in attending to see if they will be attending one of these camps as either part of the camp staff or as an attendee. Keep in mind space at some of these camps is limited so do not wait to register!
In today's recruiting landscape, we highly recommend for all student athlete's interested in playing in college to attend one or more of these prospect days, clinics or weekend camps each summer, fall and winter for maximum exposure to college coaches. Plan accordingly!
If you are interested in a specific school not listed below and they have a prospect day you should attend as many of their prospect days and camps as possible. At the very least plan to attend one of their prospect camp days or weekends. These camps/clinics allow the coaching staff an outstanding opportunity to assess your ability and get to know you as a student athlete.
In general, many of these camps always have a very impressive list of college coaches from D1, D2 and D3 schools attending and working the camps, and they are highly recommended by the WHS coaching staff. These are the BEST way to be seen by a specific program and staff!
We often receive questions from families about the recruiting process. The question below is from parents of a younger player......
My son went to xxxxxxxx Camp this past summer as a rising freshman. We just got an email from a Division II coach saying that the coach saw him play at xxxxxxx Camp and invited him to participate at a prospect day this fall.
I was wondering if you had any idea what these prospect days are? I know every college and coach is different, but I was curious if you had any familiarity with prospect days?
Prospect days are an expression of interest from a college coach. It is not a recruitment but more an interest to see the player again. A request for more information. Most Prospect Days are small in numbers and give the particular college staff a real close look at you/your son as a player. With that said, the player better be ready to perform as one of the very best at that Prospect Day! And as a player I am sure this is what you wrestle in your mind with? Discuss with your son a couple very important questions before he attends a Prospect Day.
As a parent, if your son attended every Prospect day he was invited to you might go broke! If you are on the fence look at the last two questions regarding geography and finances. If it is easy to get there and financially easy as well, why not? An opportunity to get better and play against solid competition will only help the player in the long run. Attend the prospect camp which makes sense and fulfills the answers to the questions above. Remember, by attending a Showcase/Recruiting Camp like Blue Chip 225, the player is exposed to approximately 100 different college programs at one venue. The idea is to get noticed. Your son has been noticed!
As a player, make the recruiting process your own. Do not worry about other kids. Enjoy the process. Everybody's recruiting story is different. It is never too late to get recruited so keep at it and work hard. It pays off!
